Reporting to the Superintendent, Roads and Sidewalks and under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Roads and Sidewalks, the Works Maintainer performs a variety of tasks associated with construction, repair and maintenance of all infrastructure affiliated with the Public Works Roads & Sidewalks Division. This position may be required to assist with tasks of an interdepartmental nature in conjunction with other City departments on an as-needed basis.The incumbent requires a valid Class 3 (with airbrake endorsement and manual transmission) NWT Driver’s License and a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in an industrial setting operating a variety of equipment. Some equipment that may be utilized in this position include: loader, tandem dump truck, sand truck, skid steer (bobcat), roller packer, mini-excavator, and dump box trucks. The incumbent must be mechanically inclined and have a strong knowledge in the use and operation of various gas and power tools. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required.The City of Yellowknife offers a salary range of $77,811 – $91,543, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
