This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our WRI Europe office in The Hague.
This is a 6-month, 32 hours per week contract.

Job Highlight:
Our Europe office is growing, and we are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support our financial operations.
You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of WRI Europe’s financial activities. You will assist with monthly reconciliations, expense processing, payroll support, and financial reporting, working closely with the Accounting Manager and the wider Europe Operations team. You will integrate equity into your work.
This role is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in non-profit accounting, financial compliance, and working with an international organization. You will report to the Regional Manager, Accounting and Finance.
What will you do:
- Assist in preparing monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts
- Support the processing and review of staff expense reports, ensuring compliance with WRI policies
- Assist with payroll review
- Help with project accounting tasks, including setting up project codes and tracking financial transactions
- Work with team members to ensure compliance with European statutory financial regulations
- Support the preparation of financial reports for internal stakeholders
- Contribute to the year-end financial reporting and audit process.
What will you need:
- Education: You have a completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree is accepted
- Experience: You have 1+ year of relevant, full-time experience, including in accounting or finance. Full-time internships are counted as full-time experience
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
- Experience with ERP systems (such as Costpoint or Workday) is desirable
- Knowledge of The Netherlands accounting regulations is desirable
- Languages: Verbal and written proficiency in English.
Potential Salary:
€42,000 – €53,000 based on a 40-hour work week. This role will be for 32 hour per week.
Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
