Position Objective

The Indian Regional Office (IRO), under the Office of the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (VP&COO), is functionally responsible for client relations and representation of the Bank in India and Bangladesh. The IRO is responsible for project identification and pipeline development, project preparation, project implementation and regional portfolio management. The IRO is also responsible for carrying out additional functions delegated by the VP&COO. 

Under the leadership and guidance of the Director General, IRO and other experienced professionals, the Young Professional will contribute to activities such as project identification, preparation, implementation and monitoring of sovereign and non-sovereign projects in India and Bangladesh.

Purpose- Apply Basic Concepts

•    Conduct background research essential for identification and building of a robust project pipeline, in line with the Bank’s General Strategy and Country Partnership Plan.
•    Identify key issues during project development and execution or in a specific component of the project which supports completion of project design.
•    Support project monitoring activities to ensure alignment and consistency with project objectives and the Bank’s policies.
 

Engagement-Acquire
•    Present information/research about projects and/or on specific components of projects to support timely project development/monitoring.
•    Make team aware of operational issues and risks in project execution.
•    Engage with clients for identifying milestones and their delivery within agreed timeframes.
•    Support the IRO in organizing portfolio review meetings, workshop, seminars etc.

Delivery- Understand Project/Business Cycle
•    Deliver project analysis and research in a timely manner to support broader execution of projects.
•    Support project implementation, facilitate disbursements, identify deviations against established timelines/milestones.
•    Bring rigor in analyses to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, guidelines, systems and processes of the Bank.

Requirements:

•    Master’s Degree in areas relevant to NDB mandate. Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable.
•    Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in financing public or private sector projects in the region.
•    Fluency in English essential to communicate in writing and speaking.
•    Substantive knowledge. Demonstrated capacity gained through training/education in business/economics/development finance/business consultancy reflecting conceptual understanding. Conceptual: Awareness of operational environments and varying client needs. Applied: Develop supporting information with respect to projects to improve alignment with clients’/operational parameters.
•    Communication skills. Demonstrated skill gained through exposure to business development and project implementation. Internal: Provide/summarize information on operating conditions to team or project lead. External: Gather information from clients regarding operational metrics which may affect the project outputs/outcomes.
•    Execution skills: Demonstrated achievement in applying process steps and standards. Timeliness: Display awareness of operational variance and the need to adjust work pace and approach to sustain timely delivery. Quality: Deliver analytical outputs in support of project implementation and ensure consistency against varying conditions and client needs.
