Overview – Another Way 

Another Way is a charity founded by Amy Bray in 2019, when she was 16. We educate and influence
those around us, inspiring all to live with kindness towards our planet. We are youth-led with
a multi-generational appeal. 

We are scaling fast, particularly as our Power of 10 app grows, extending our community of
young changemakers. 


Role headlines 

The Youth Engagement Lead will help to build our Power of 10 movement, empowering young
people across the UK to take environment action.

You will work with schools, youth groups and other charities to grow our community of young
people, inspire them to protect our planet and support them to do so. You will be at the
forefront of our unique flagship project, helping Another Way to grow nationally and leading
the growth of the first ever digital community for young changemakers.

You will be part of a dynamic, ambitious and fast-paced team and have a flexible, virtual
working lifestyle, with the ability to travel to schools across the UK.

Role details 

Workshop delivery and outreach 

  • Create and deliver solutions-based workshops on climate and nature to schools nationally
  • Promote our existing resources and school toolkits to teachers 
  • Give a blend of in-person and online workshops and talks at events, conferences, community
    groups and in schools 
  • Expand our outreach by creating and implementing a communications strategy to engage
    teachers, schools and youth groups
  • Find and create new partnerships with schools, identifying opportunities to maximise our
    reach and impact 

Power of 10 app community engagement 

  • Work with our existing Power of 10 community of young climate leaders to support their
    climate and nature action in schools 
  • Help to moderate the Power of 10 app and communicate with users, especially through our
    Changemaker Helpline 
  • Increase and grow our community by promoting Power of 10 through partners and schools 
  • Recruit new Regional Reps for the Power of 10 movement, and help to enhance their skills
    and development, working with them to promote Power of 10 in their communities 

Partnership relations building 

  • Manage existing relationships with key stakeholders in environmental education and climate
    action in schools 
  • Build new relationships with key partners to deliver our impact and strategy 
  • Identify new opportunities to join or form partnerships for reaching schools and young
    people 
  • Get creative in leveraging unusual partnerships outside of the echo chamber of the
    environment sector to maximise our reach to diverse young people 

Events

  • Help to organise events such as our Power of 10 festival, and workshops for young people
    and schools to connect and learn about climate solutions 
  • Work with partners to fill and promote our events calendar on the Power of 10 app to offer
    opportunities to our community 

Reporting: 

  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of all education activities 

Must haves: 

  • Your beliefs and passion align strongly with the vision and values of Another Way. You are
    energetic and flexible
  • You are great at working with and communicating to young people and have a track record of
    great education 
  • You are passionate about building a youth-led movement
  • You can think outside the box to help overcome barriers to reaching young people and teachers
  • You are knowledgeable, or willing to learn, about climate change and environmental issues
  • You are great at building and maintaining relationships
  • You are hands-on, solutions-oriented and well organised
  • You are a team player who can work well independently
  • You are a good communicator and have strong presentation skills
  • Previous network-building and relationships within environmental education
  • You are a proactive leader and have the ability to manage ambitious projects 

Nice-to-haves: 

  • Prior experience working within a similar position leading communication to teachers and young people
  • You have experience delivering science communication to schools or young people 
  • A degree or other qualification in a relevant subject 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK school system and curriculum 
  • Knowledge of project management and evaluation 
  • 35 hours per week 
  • 25 days’ holiday plus UK public holidays 
  • £28 000- 33,000 salary p.a. depending on experience 
  • Remote working, with travel across the UK 
  • You will be part of a dynamic, committed team making a measurable difference
