All appointments will be made on merit or skill and experience relative to the role.Department of Geography and EnvironmentAssistant Professor of Urban Environmental GeographySalary is no less than £65,244 and the salary scale can be found on theTentative start date 1 September 2025.The LSE’s Department of Geography and Environment is inviting applications for a new position in Urban Environmental Geography. The successful candidate will join our dynamic academic community to conduct and publish outstanding research, deliver excellent teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and actively contribute to the broader intellectual life of the School. We are especially interested in applicants whose work addresses urban environmental challenges and who bring expertise in areas such as urban political ecology, climate urbanism, Black geographies/ecologies, and/or environmental inequalities and justice.Candidates should have:· Expertise and research interests in Urban Environmental Geography, with expertise in one or more of the following approaches: urban political ecology; climate urbanism; Black geographies/ecologies; and/or environmental inequalities and justice.· A completed PhD, or close to obtaining a PhD, in Human Geography or a related discipline by the post start date· A track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications.· Ability to teach courses in urban and environmental geography including expertise in one or more of the following approaches: urban political ecology; climate urbanism; Black geographies/ecologies; and/or environmental inequalities and justice at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.· A commitment to work as part of a team in assisting the smooth running of the Department and its teaching programmesThe other criteria that will be used when shortlisting for this post can be found on the person specification, which is attached to this vacancy on the LSE’s online recruitment system.In addition to a competitive salary the benefits that come with this job include occupational pension scheme, a collegial environment and excellent support, training and development opportunities.For further information about the post, please see the , and .If you have any technical queries with applying on the online system, please use the “contact us” links at the bottom of the LSE Jobs page.
