We are in search of an Assistant Controller to add to our Client’s team based in Kitchener, Ontario. In this role, you will be critical to the daily operations of their accounting functions, including Payroll, Project Administration, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable. • Provide back-up and vacation cover for all Accounting Department staff – Payroll, Project Admin, A/R and A/P
• Oversee Payroll Statutory requirements, reporting and filings (WSIB, EHT, CLAC remittances, garnishments)
• Ensure that all taxes (Corporate, HST) and other government reporting are filed in a timely manner
• Ability to monitor and manage customer invoicing, cash receipts and change order administration
• Assist with month-end and year-end including preparing and processing journal entries, accruals and reconciliations between sub-ledgers and general ledger
• Manage the maintenance of and the reporting on Fixed Assets and company-owned Material/Inventory
• Monitor daily banking activities and perform bank reconciliations
• Assist external IT service provider and coordinate interactions with them and all other employees
• Manage all aspects of bookkeeping for 2 separate Building Companies
• Co-ordinate and interact with external auditors, banks and other third parties
• Ability to monitor and manage vendor invoice entry, monthly vendor payments and company credit card process
• Any other accounting or finance related tasks as required to meet company objectives

• CPA Designation or working towards CPA or equivalent experience
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience of full accounting cycle and of Canadian GAAP
• Strong attention to detail in all areas of work and analytical skills to review and resolve various accounting issues
• Strong systems and computer skills; proficiency with Construction ERP (Viewpoint or similar system) desired
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment
• Ability to work independently
