Attenborough Investment Lead

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust

Help shape one of the UK’s most significant nature investment opportunities

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust is seeking an exceptional Investment Lead to develop a transformational investment proposition for the future of Attenborough Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre.

We’re seeking an experienced professional with a proven record of developing and securing investment for ambitious projects. You’ll demonstrate excellent project management skills with the ability to inspire and engage with senior investors, funders and strategic partners.

About us
These are exciting times for Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Last year, we undertook a review of our ambitious Wilder Nottinghamshire 2030 strategy to give even greater focus to our work on our land, with communities and partners, and through influencing others.

Following this strategy review, the Trust has aligned structures and roles to ensure that we are equipped to maximise our impact for nature, attract increased support and remain resilient and sustainable over the long term in a rapidly changing external environment.

The new structure has created a number of opportunities to bring in new talent, ideas and energy to the organisation, to make a strategic investment in our future capability.

Time is running out to address the joint nature and climate crises and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust has a hugely important role to play in our county, and as part of the wider Wildlife Trust movement, to help reverse local nature loss and mobilise action for nature recovery and we’d love you to join us.

About the role

As the Attenborough Investment Lead, you will act as the subject matter expert driving the development of a robust and evidence-based investment case. While the role has no direct line management responsibility, you will provide leadership, guidance and expertise across the project and coordinate contributions from a range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will:

  • Develop and deliver an overall investment strategy for the Attenborough programme.
  • Create a compelling investment prospectus and Strategic Outline Case.
  • Convene and manage a working group of key experts and partners.
  • Commission and coordinate feasibility studies, visitor modelling, business cases and commercial operating models.
  • Gather, analyse and present evidence that strengthens the investment proposition.
  • Build relationships with potential funders, investors and strategic partners.
  • Report progress to key stakeholders, including the East Midlands Combined County Authority and relevant Trust committees.
  • Help position Attenborough as a nationally significant destination for nature, learning and community engagement.

This is more than a fundraising or development role. It is an opportunity to help create a landmark vision for one of the UK’s most treasured nature reserves and leave a lasting legacy for wildlife, communities and future generations.

This is a fixed-term contact until 31 March 2028.

About you

You will bring:

  • Significant experience leading complex capital, regeneration or investment programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience influencing senior leaders across public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • Exceptional storytelling and proposition development capabilities.
  • Experience managing complex partnerships and commissioning specialist consultants.
  • Commercial awareness, negotiation skills and an understanding of blended finance and philanthropic fundraising.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Confidence presenting to, engaging with and inspiring senior investors, funders and strategic partners.

This post is subject to a Basic DBS Check.

We are planning on holding interviews on the 17th and 18th of September.
