Re-Advertise : Call for Proposal on Facilitating and Implementing Biodiversity Credit Pilot in Community Level – JAMBI
1. Background
The Government of Indonesia, in partnership with UNDP through the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), is advancing innovative financing solutions to address the biodiversity finance gap. Global commitments under the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework call for mobilizing substantial financial resources and strengthening market-based mechanisms, including biodiversity credits.
Indonesia faces a significant funding gap to implement the Indonesian Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (IBSAP), with limited public financing available to meet national conservation targets. Biodiversity credits have emerged as a promising mechanism to generate additional financing, incentivize conservation, and engage private sector participation.
To support this, BIOFIN Indonesia is initiating a pilot biodiversity credit implementation at the community level, focusing on village forest areas in Jambi Province. The pilot aims to assess feasibility, implementation of biodiversity credit preparation activities, and generate lessons learned to inform local and national policies.
