About the Greening Campaign CIC

The Greening Campaign CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company working with local Hampshire communities to mitigate and adapt to climate change. We are proud to be Hampshire County Council’s flagship community climate change programme, currently working across 20 communities to deliver meaningful, lasting change.

Our programmes focus on five key areas:

• Waste Prevention
• Space for Nature
• Health Impacts of Climate Change
• Energy Efficient Warmer Homes
• Cycle of the Seed

We have delivered positive outcomes for people of all ages, including vulnerable individuals, with proven benefits including reductions in loneliness, anxiety and stress. We are now at a pivotal point — having recently secured a National Lottery Grant, we are extending our programme and providing further in-person support.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a small, dedicated team supporting hundreds of volunteers doing extraordinary things in their communities. You will provide inspiration, practical guidance and meaningful connection — helping community groups turn their aspirations into action.

Purpose of the Role

The Community Co-ordinator will provide hands-on support to communities working through the Greening Campaign, helping them move forward along their journey and deliver on the organisation’s mission: to Green the Country, Community by Community.

You will work with 20+ communities, linking them with expert partners, attending meetings and events, and ensuring that all voices are heard and every community can thrive. This is a community-facing role for someone with a genuine passion for the environment, sustainability and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend community meetings and guide communities on their journey through the Greening Campaign programme
• Support communities to reach identified targets and outcomes
• Connect communities with expert partners who provide specialist support and training
• Guide communities through the Energy Efficient Warmer Homes programme (full training provided)
• Attend community events as appropriate
• Collect learning and evidence to support programme development and monitoring and evaluation
• Collect data and media content as required, supporting programme communications
• Identify challenges and blocks to community progress and escalate to the core team where necessary
• Support Monitoring and Evaluation interviews
• Undertake minute-taking at meetings where needed
• Contribute to Annual Report writing and wider communications including newsletters and social media content

Please note: This role will require the successful candidate to work several evenings per week and some weekends.

Person Specification

Experience

• Experience of working with community groups, volunteers or grassroots organisations
• Experience of supporting projects, programmes or initiatives from planning through to delivery
• Experience of organising meetings, events or workshops
• Experience of working collaboratively with partners or stakeholders
• Experience of collecting data, feedback or evidence to support monitoring and evaluation
• Experience supporting funded programmes with clear targets and reporting requirements

Knowledge & Understanding

• Understanding of climate change, sustainability and environmental activity at community level
• Knowledge of community climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives
• Awareness of inclusive community engagement practices and the importance of ensuring all voices are heard
• Understanding of the challenges faced by diverse and potentially vulnerable community members
• Knowledge of how local partnerships and community networks operate

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to energise and inspire others
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple communities and priorities simultaneously
• Confident to speak to large groups of people
• Ability to work independently, manage own workload and meet targets
• Confident facilitator, able to guide discussions and keep groups focused and motivated
• Ability to identify barriers to progress and escalate issues appropriately
• Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and digital communication platforms
• Ability to collect and present information clearly and accurately
• Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and occasional weekends

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of working within the not-for-profit or Community Interest Company (CIC) sector
• Experience in communications, social media content creation or storytelling
• Knowledge of Hampshire communities and local networks
