Consultant in Palliative Medicine

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint three substantive Consultants in Palliative Medicine (Full time 10PA post) to support the integrated palliative care services across the TrustThe successful applicants will work to support the in-patient, advisory, ambulatory and community based services across the Trust as a member of the Integrated Palliative Care medical team. Duties will be undertaken in conjunction with consultant colleagues, with the support of an annual job planning process to provide oversight and supervision to the consultant led servicesApplicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent qualifications, to be fully registered with the General Medical Council with licence to practise and listed on the Specialist Register or due to be registered within six months of the date of appointment.Main duties of the jobThe appointee, together with his or her colleagues will have a commitment to the provision of consultant medical cover within the Integrated Palliative Care medical team across the sites.The posts include 10 Programmed activities (PAs) and the main commitments of this posts in the first year (subject to annualised job planning)Due to the integrated nature of the medical team, the job plans of the team will be reviewed on an annual basis, and there will be the potential opportunity to work with other aspects of the service on a rotational basis. The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover support to other services when required and undertake community visits where necessary to promote continuity of care for patients.In addition, other duties will include involvement in the education and audit program of the directorate, administration, attendance at meetings and continuing medical education.
