We put our values and our mission front and centre with everything we do, if you want to know more, read about our team and values on our page.About the roleYou’ll be joining us as a founding member of our Data Science team, interim reporting to our Head of Engineering, , while our Director of Product, is on parental leave. You’ll be working cross-functionally with technical experts in the Knowledge & Data team to develop products that directly drive climate impact.We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background who is excited to build out novel analysis, research and statistical models to help drive a competitive advantage in our product offering, ultimately helping our clients to engage with the Voluntary Carbon Market effectively.What you’ll be doing

  • Build sophisticated credit supply and demand models, pricing forecasts and more
  • Drive novel research efforts by working closely with the Knowledge & Data and Growth teams to influence how data can be used to drive competitive advantage in our market intelligence product vision and features
  • Help foster a data-driven culture across the organisation. Lead by example in understanding the carbon markets and the technical aspects of carbon methodologies.
  • Set up and advocate for best practices with regard to data organisation, access and management to ensure high-quality data is provided to our clients.
  • Identify opportunities to continue to build out proprietary data sets and be comfortable facilitating discussions with external data partners and vendors
  • Coach and mentor junior data team members and help upskill others around you with knowledge-sharing sessions and hands-on guidance
  • [For Data Science Lead] Build and manage a team of data scientists and engineers as we scale our data efforts

What we’re looking for

  • 6+ years of related and credible experience as a data scientist or related field
  • Strong skills with Python, SQL and data modelling, in a production environment
  • Solid statistical toolkit including linear, multivariate and logistic regression
  • Past experience working in a product-led company with a commercial mindset. You focus on the end-user and the problems that need solving for them.
  • Experience working independently with data pipelines and transformations, and working knowledge of data engineering best practices
  • A self-starter who takes initiative, and will thrive in an early stage and fast-growing start-up.

Desirable

  • Experience within climate finance and/or the energy transition
  • Experience with visualisation tools and an appreciation for optimal data representation formats
  • Degree in a quantitative field, ideally a PhD
