The Ecology Partnership are a leading independent ecological consultancy based in Leatherhead, Surrey. The company are currently looking for a GIS Technician to help support our busy team of ecologists with digitising survey data and mapping in QGIS with regards to:

  • Habitat baseline and biodiversity net gain work
  • Protected species survey and licencing
  • Production of enhancement and management plans

The post will be predominantly based at our Leatherhead office to allow for close collaboration with our team, although some remote working flexibility maybe possible dependent on agreed working hours. The position would be on a part time basis of 3 days per week (approximately 25 hours), although these hours could be worked over more days across the working week. We would be interested in talking to individuals with experience within the ecology or environmental sector, who can help develop the efficiency of data processing and map creation and support the rest of the team who are also proficient in QGIS. Candidates must have:

  • Good IT skills and a passion for GIS and mapping work and data presentation
  • Previous experience of using GIS software in a professional or academic setting (preferably QGIS)
  • Previous experience of working within the environmental sector or through education and / or academic positions
  • Be organised and efficient
  • A positive attitude and a keen team player
  • A creative mind to assist streamlining our data management systems and mapping processes as required
