The Role

We are seeking a Habitats Team Operative to join our experienced field team based in
Lee-on-the-Solent. The role involves carrying out a variety of site-based tasks, including
vegetation clearance, habitat creation, and ecological mitigation works. This position is ideal
for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work and takes pride in delivering high-quality
environmental site outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake vegetation clearance, including brushcutting, chainsaw work, and scrub
    management.
  • Deliver habitat creation and restoration works such as pond construction, wildflower
    seeding, and tree or hedge planting.
  • Install and maintain ecological mitigation measures, including reptile and amphibian
    exclusion fencing.
  • Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and vehicles safely and effectively.
  • Conduct ecological surveys and ECoW.

Essential Requirements

  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and across varied sites.
  • Good physical fitness and a commitment to safe working practices.
  • Full UK driving licence (required).
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Interest in practical ecological and habitat management work.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in vegetation clearance, landscaping, or ecological contracting.
  • Relevant tickets/certifications such as CSCS, brushcutter/strimmer (NPTC), chainsaw (NPTC),
    or pesticide application (PA1/PA6).
  • Awareness of UK habitats and environmental legislation (advantageous but not essential).
