Head of EDI – Band 8BJoin us as the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and you’ll play a key role in the Human Resources and Organisational Development (“HR&OD”) function. The first priority of the 5 year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’ commits to making GOSH a great place to work by investing in the wellbeing and development of our people. This vision will be realised through ambitious programmes of work around health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion and staff engagement.We have made good progress to implement our D&I framework called ‘Seen and Heard’ and have developed strong staff networks to support us. In this role you will partner with senior leaders across GOSH to deliver on the strategy, and using D&I data and insights to ensure the four work streams are project managed through to completion. Working with the Diversity and Inclusion OD Partner and Associate Director of OD, you will champion our ‘making GOSH a great place to work’ team ethos and engage key stakeholders including our staff union representatives and our 4 staff networks to drive the agenda.For an informal discussion about the role, contact Andreas Marcou, Associate Director of OED on 02074059200Main duties of the jobo o The Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion involves the provision of strategic leadership to advance EDI initiatives within the Organisation.   • Demonstrable leadership experience in EDI development activities concerning to the full range of protected characteristics, including a broad and deep understanding of barriers to change, prejudices and unconscious bias and how to appropriately challenge and remove such barriers
  • A record of successfully leading on organisation wide EDI matters. Experience of having successfully implemented and held responsibility for the delivery of EDI projects showing clear and tangible delivery of equality objectives and link to strategic plans
  • An understanding of how to champion and embed inclusivity issues effectively in large complex organisations
  • Current topical awareness and future horizon scanning for emerging research, issues and future Government policy to inform organisational thinking. Demonstrable experience advising on EDI matters making significant contribution to the EDI strategy
  • A specialist knowledge and in-depth understanding of equality, diversity and inclusivity issues, both within large organisations but also culturally across the local community, nationally and/or internationally.
  • Experience of advising on the design and delivery EDI training to a wide audience including executive teams
  • Planning and organisation of broad range of complex EDI activities or programmes, some of which are ongoing, which require the formulation and adjustment of plans.
  • Significant experience of writing formal reports for internal and external publication with attention to style, content and tone
  • Experiencing of managing others
  • Experience in supporting and advising on the development of complex, sensitive policies/procedures and ensuring compliance and cultural appropriateness
  • Substantial experience operating at a senior level in the NHS or large public or private sector organisation – in subject matter of EDI

  • Competent in theory and application of EDI improvement tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering and co-ordinating EDI programmes in complex and challenging environments including executive level.
