KTP Associate

The University of Bristol wishes to recruit a highly skilled & qualified graduate to lead and deliver an 18-month project with Space Forge Limited, an in-space manufacturing company that specialises in new materials. This project will develop a novel process for producing semiconductor materials. This position forms part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK. As a KTP Associate you will work with the company to embed new know-how through this innovation project using research and academic support from the University.

The candidate will spend ~50% of their time in the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol, developing new methods to deposit semiconductor materials using chemical vapour deposition.  The other 50% will be spent at the Spaceforge facility in Cardiff, modifying the methods to fabricate new facilities for manufacturing the semiconductor materials on board satellites. This will be a full-time fixed-term contract for 18 months, starting early July 2023.

  • A first degree (Masters/PhD desirable) in Chemistry, Physics or Engineering or related subjects.
  • Expertise in chemical vapour deposition.
  • Working knowledge of microwave plasma reactors and CVD systems.
  • Strong analytical skills.
