UASc is developing research that explores the meaning of interdisciplinarity for the development of knowledge in the twenty-first century. In addition, in research staff develop projects that draw together researchers from different disciplines will also develop their own specialisms.UASc also oversees the located at UCL East. The Bachelor in Creative Arts and Humanities leads a new generation of humanities teaching that combines critical humanities scholarship with arts practice and had its first intake in 2023/24. The three main areas of practice covered are writing, moving image and performance. UASc also oversees the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc), the UK’s leading interdisciplinary degree, covering arts, social sciences and sciences, as well as the Masters in Arts and Sciences in Creative Health. The Department has plans to develop further MASc degrees. UASc also houses the .About the roleWe are looking for a Lecturer to undertake teaching and research in moving image practice and theory. We are seeking candidates who bring innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to moving image practice in research and pedagogy to complement and expand our existing team. Preference may be given to those who can demonstrate a track record of intersectional, transregional or globalised perspectives on moving image and its cultural, social and political significance.The postholder will be expected to teach, or contribute to, some of the BACAH’s core moving image modules in both theory and practice: , , and , . An ability to teach the elective module , is desirable. The postholder will be expected to supervise students’ final year projects and to write and run module(s) in areas of their expertise. The postholder may also be asked to contribute to the transdisciplinary module in year 1, . The postholder will also be a Personal Tutor.The postholder will have an active creative research profile in film and/or artists’ moving image and/or wider digital media practice, with demonstrable evidence of high-quality creative work and/or research outputs in more traditional academic formats.The post is based at the UCL East campus, but travel to the main Bloomsbury campus may be required for departmental activities or to contribute to teaching on the BASc Arts and Sciences programmes.This post is full-time and available from 1 September 2025 or as soon as possible after that date.This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Please visit for more information.About youThe postholder will be hold a PhD degree or have equivalent professional experience in any area relevant to interdisciplinary creative arts and humanities, in particular Film and Moving Image Practice and Theory. Experience of contribution to curriculum development and to the organisation and management of teaching programmes is essential.In addition, the postholder will have proven experience in research in creative arts and humanities with specialisms in Film and Moving Image Practice and Theory.
