School / DirectorateSchool of Optometry & Vision SciencesAdvertLecturer / Senior Lecturer at the School of Optometry and Vision SciencesCardiff University, School of Optometry and Vision Sciences is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking optometrist to provide high quality clinical practice and teaching in the teach and treat glaucoma clinic.We’d like to hear from you if you are an optometrist who is GOC registered with a Higher Certificate or Diploma in Glaucoma as well as a passion for education with an ability to develop, deliver and evaluate a range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught modules and programmes.Our School is at an exciting cornerstone in its development of education as many people with eye conditions are now seen and treated by an optometrist. To supervise students and to carry out administrative duties, as required. To pursue excellence in clinical practice, teaching and pedagogy and to inspire others to do the same.Senior Lecturer in addition:
*To lead on and develop the clinical teaching and clinical provision for glaucoma within the School.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeaching

• To contribute to the design and delivery of teaching programmes/courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to contribute to module development as part of a module team.

*To independently contribute to module and course development and lead modules.

• To contribute to programme evaluation and research to assess the quality and impact of teaching and learning, with priority on delivering through the student voice an excellent student experience.

• To carry out other forms of scholarship including work associated with examinations, setting and marking assessments and providing constructive feedback to students in a timely manner, administration, and participation in committee work.

• To inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students in their learning experience under the guidance of a mentor/module leader; and to develop skills in assessment methods and in providing constructive feedback to students.

• To supervise and help co-ordinate the work of undergraduate and postgraduate students including supervision of WGOS4 glaucoma clinics and placements.

• To act as a personal tutor, providing support and guidance to students, and building and establishing trust.

Senior Lecturer in addition:*To supervise optometrists on Placements for Higher Certificates in Glaucoma in the glaucoma clinics.*To co-ordinate a programme of evaluation, and research to assess the quality and impact of teaching and learning, and, to make a significant contribution to the international development of such teaching.Scholarship

• To contribute to scholarship through participation in conferences, seminars and other academic and professional forums and to disseminate the results of individual scholarship.

• To engage in scholarly activity through journal articles and/or outputs which advance knowledge within the area of work.

• To contribute to scholarship through interdisciplinary working with individuals and teams within, and external to, the wider university community.

You will be expected to maintain CPD to ensure continued GOC registration, and to uphold membership of an NHS Health Board to practice as an Optometrist in the Cardiff University, and/or any associated, patient-facing clinics.2.
