We are looking for a Locum Consultant HPB Surgeon to further develop our service. Key duties will be supervising and running operating lists, core and specialist clinics, diagnostics, on call cover, and care for patients on wards in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, including ward nurses and specialist nursing teams. The unit is active in research, quality improvement and the post holder will be expected to fully participate in this activity.You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and preferably be on the Specialist Registrar or be within 12 months of obtaining CCT/CESR. Informal discussions are encouraged and you are invited to contact.Main duties of the job1. To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient, elective and non-elective HPB and general surgical service.2. To contribute to the development and provision of a comprehensive HPB and general surgical service at Barts Health NHS Trust.3. To provide evidence-based care for all inpatients and outpatients.4. To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in relevant NHS guidance and the Care Quality Commission reports.5. To participate fully in the management of the Department and to liaise closely with the Lead Clinician, Service Manager, General Manager and Clinical Director.6. The post holder may be required to carry out other duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.7.   • MBBS, or equivalent FRCS (Gen Surgery) or equivalent
  • CCT (or within 6 months of date of interview)

  • Higher degree, e.g. MD/PhD

  • Widespread broad-based knowledge of all aspects of HPB and General surgery

Desirable

  • Higher Specialist Training in HPB surgery.
  • Experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates

Training ExpectedEssential

  • Higher Specialist Training in HPB surgery.
  • Competent in Minimally invasive surgery Experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates

Desirable

  • Expertise in Robotic HPB surgery

Management/Audit ExperienceEssential

  • Able to provide evidence of clinical audit and demonstrate understanding of impact and challenges this brings.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current and future NHS challenges and strategy
  • Ability to support team members in business planning via collaboration and discussion.

  • Evidence of innovative approaches to healthcare
  • Experience in Governance management within NHS
