Duties and Responsibilities Assists in substantive research and analysis of human rights and international humanitarian law issues/events and assesses their impact on the human rights situation. •Supports the drafting of a variety of reports, communications, briefings, statements, and inputs for briefing notes, and advocacy materials. •Assists in the collection and analyses human rights data and indicators, including genderspecific data and indicators. •Supports the review of human rights issues, including their gender dimensions, and participates in discussions with Human Rights Officers on the integration of these issues into political, humanitarian efforts and programmes. •Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. •Maintains awareness of current human rights issues, to include relevant political and legal developments in the OPT. •Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications/special skills To qualify for the internship programme, applicants must, at the time of submission, be a graduate or enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master”s degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or, be a graduate or enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor”s degree or equivalent degree) preferably in the area of law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, OR have graduated with a university degree AND, if selected, must commence the internship on the date specified in the Acceptance letter. Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internships programme.
Languages Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
