Want to create better places for people and nature- every single day?
About us
The Forest of Marston Vale Trust is a charity leading the creation of a Community Forest by planting trees and using woodlands to make life better for people and wildlife across the 61 square miles of the Forest of Marston Vale between Bedford and Milton Keynes. By planting trees and managing diverse habitats, we’re continuing to transform the landscape to a place where people want to live, work and spend their leisure time.
About the role
Join our friendly, dedicated Ranger team in this varied, hands-on role. You’ll care for and enhance the Trust’s woodlands, wetlands and grasslands, while inspiring visitors and improving these special places for people and wildlife. You’ll help manage the award-winning Millennium Country Park (225ha), as well as the Trust’s wider estate of community woodlands (400ha). No two days are the same. You’ll undertake practical habitat management and estate maintenance, lead and support volunteers, engage with visitors and play a key role in looking after these important green spaces.
About you
We’re looking for someone with experience in countryside or conservation management who is passionate about making a difference. You’ll be enthusiastic, proactive and practical, enjoying the variety that comes with working both independently and as part of a committed team. You’ll be able to lead and inspire volunteers, engage confidently with visitors and carry out a wide range of practical habitat and countryside management tasks. You’ll also be a confident communicator, well organised, confident using Microsoft Office, and hold a full, valid driving licence.
What we offer
A starting salary of £26,000-£28,000 (depending on experience), 33 days’ annual leave (incl. Bank/Public Holidays) and a pension scheme. A varied and rewarding role working across beautiful natural spaces.
This role includes regular weekend and Bank/Public Holiday working on a rota basis as part of the Ranger Team.
Join us and help shape the future of the Forest of Marston Vale for people, for nature and for the planet.
