This unique Research Associate position is available for a material scientist to work in a multidisciplinary environment with particle physicists to develop the applications of 2D materials to photon sensors to increase sensitivity to short-wavelength light produced in noble element scintillation.You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in materials science, physics, nanotechnology or equivalent. Expertise in 2-D materials fabrication in a clean-room setting is essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisation skills are also required.You will design, develop and implement 2-D materials such as graphene or metasurfaces for applications to photon sensors to increase their sensitivity to short, vacuum ultraviolet, wavelengths. You will work predominantly in the clean rooms of the National Graphene Institute and in the Particle Physics Group laboratory in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.What you will get in return:
