Rights of Way Officer x2

Hampshire County Council

The Role:

We are looking to recruit two new Rights of Way Officers to join the West and
East Area Access Teams. In this role, you will be responsible for the direct management of
public rights of way across Hampshire, open access land and other forms of public access to the
countryside, such as the Service’s own sites. You will ensure that this access is protected,
maintained, developed, and promoted to a high standard, in line with Hampshire County Council’s
Countryside Access Plan priorities and relevant legislation.

What you’ll do:

You will manage a wide-ranging programme of work, including line managing a three person Area
Access Ranger Team who carry out practical maintenance across the network. Working closely with
the Area Countryside Access Manager, you will develop, plan, and deliver your own work
programme to ensure high-quality access throughout the rights of way network. The role involves
regular travel across the area to inspect public rights of way and requires close collaboration
with countryside colleagues, landowners, members of the public, stakeholders, and contractors.

What we’re looking for:

We are seeking candidates with significant experience in rights of way work and a strong
understanding of relevant legislation. You will need excellent communication and organisational
skills, a full driving licence, and access to a vehicle to meet the travel requirements of the
role.

Why join us?

Our benefits package includes details
of the holiday entitlement, pension scheme, flexi-time scheme, family friendly policies and
interest free travel loans and discounts.

We offer a flexible, motivating and inclusive workplace, where talent is truly recognised and
developed. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of and
where you are empowered to be your best and believe in creating a workplace built on teamwork
where people can grow and develop in their roles.
