Senior Flood Risk Officer (Projects)

Cambridgeshire County Council

We have a brand new opportunity to work as a Senior Flood Risk Officer on flood resilience
projects across Cambridgeshire.

The Flood Risk team sits within the Natural and Historic Environment Service to deliver a
varied programme of flood resilience work across the county, working closely with partner
organisations and communities.

This is a two year fixed term role with the potential for extension depending on funding.

We have seen an increasing amount of flooding across Cambridgeshire in recent years and as a
Lead Local Flood Authority we are looking at ways we can manage this to reduce the frequency
and severity in the future. We are in the fortunate position of having a dedicated flood risk
management programme running for the next two years to develop a programme of schemes in
collaboration with other partner organisations.

This role will engage with partners across the county and work with our Flood Risk Programme
Coordinator to monitor and apply for external funding as it becomes available and will develop
and oversee a number of flood resilience projects such as:

  • Natural Flood Management schemes
  • Sustainable drainage retrofit
  • Watercourse restoration
  • Water level telemetry
  • Property Flood Resilience

In addition to the above there will be the opportunity to get involved with all aspects of the
team’s work including flood investigations and enforcement, land drainage consenting and
community engagement.
