Are you passionate about supporting volunteers and have experience coordinating volunteer programmes? We’re looking for someone proactive and creative in developing new volunteering opportunities, including roles beyond traditional conservation work, and you’ll understand what helps volunteers feel welcomed, supported and valued.
You’ll have excellent organisational skills, confidence working with CRM or volunteer databases and the ability to communicate clearly and supportively with a wide range of people. You’re comfortable facilitating group discussions, planning training sessions and helping volunteers build their skills, whether they’re part of a practical conservation team, a community group or exploring new ways to get involved. Most importantly, you bring enthusiasm, empathy and a commitment to ensuring every volunteer has a positive and meaningful experience with the Trust.
We are looking for a Volunteer Development Officer to help strengthen and enhance the experience of the c500 volunteers who support our work across Worcestershire. This role will play a key part in reviewing how we engage volunteers, improving the systems and processes that support them and developing new opportunities for people to get involved in nature conservation and beyond.
You will coordinate and develop our volunteer database and CRM systems, ensuring records are accurate and used effectively. You’ll lead on creating and delivering a training and development calendar for volunteers, support volunteer committees and groups and help shape best practice through policies, procedures and guidance.
A key part of the role is exploring new and more inclusive ways for people to volunteer, whether through practical conservation, public engagement, consultancy, business support or youth pathways such as work experience, apprenticeships or T-levels. You will also develop and maintain a volunteer survey to gather feedback and inform improvements.
Based at Lower Smite Farm with hybrid working available, you’ll work closely with teams across the Trust to support and enhance volunteering in all areas of our work.
Contract: Part-time, 21 hours per week, fixed-term for 12 months
Location: Lower Smite Farm, Hindlip, Worcester WR3 8SZ, hybrid working available with up to 40% WFH when appropriate

Applicants who meet the minimum requirements required and choose to apply under the scheme will be offered an interview.
We offer a supportive, friendly and purpose-driven working environment where your contribution genuinely makes a difference for wildlife and local communities. As part of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, you’ll benefit from:
