Through local, national and global research collaborations, the team works to address emergent knowledge gaps and provide evidence-based guidance for the prevention, treatment, and care of reproductive infectious diseases. We are based out of BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre, with support from the Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI). We are looking for a Research Coordinator to join our team of researchers, trainees, research staff and patient partners.This position will have a focus on writing. You will work closely with the research team and Principal Investigator to drive the team’s deliverables associated with writing forward, including facilitation of the team’s in-progress and submitted manuscripts, literature searches and support of grant submissions. You will work at the interface between the RID Team, local investigators, national and international investigators, the Women’s Health Research Institute Grant Facilitator, as well as patient partners, scientific, clinical and knowledge translation experts to move the RID manuscript portfolio forward and support future grant submissions.As our ideal candidate you are someone who brings skills and success in writing to the team, who can multi-task and you can function independently in the face of multiple competing deadlines. You can also train and oversee a research assistant working with you in this area.Organizational Status
Reports to the Senior Research Manager on the team. Will also have contact with the PI, Postdoctoral fellow, multiple clinicians, scientists and other partners associated with the RID manuscripts or grants.Work PerformedDeveloping and maintaining a detailed and up to date internal database of manuscript activities, deadlines and contact details of stakeholders and authors for ongoing communication and follow up; including manuscripts in progress, those with the authors for review, those with the journal for review, any requirements of the journal after submission and the final date of publicationPerforming or updating literature searches as requested by RID senior leadershipEngaging authors for feedback and follow up throughout the life cycle of manuscripts; integrating comments and inputting into manuscripts; liaising with RID senior leadership regarding the authors content and facilitating the preparation of the final version of manuscripts; ensuring journal specific formatting is adhered toDistributing both PDF copies and journal links to all appropriate team members when manuscripts are published; providing these to the appropriate person on the RID and WHRI teams for publication on the respective websitesCollaborating with the RID team, RID Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator and Principal Investigator to plan and implement publication associated social media postings, knowledge mobilization initiatives using various platforms: print, digital print, video, ebulletin, workshops, and othersDeveloping associated slide presentations as needed for Dr MoneyDeveloping key messages/reports/communication materialsCreating and maintaining material and resource repositories for each manuscriptSupporting the various stages of grant preparation and submission, performing duties as requested including identification of grant opportunities, communication with team members, coordination and synthesizing comments on the grant, obtaining granting agency PINs and signatures as needed, keeping within grant submission deadlinesOther duties as directed by the Senior Research Manager or PIConsequence of Error/Judgement
Accuracy, attention to timeliness, and sound judgement are required to maximize the effectiveness of this position. The individual will need to exercise independent judgement, feel comfortable working with a large and diverse team, and conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times. Required to work independently on a day-to-day basis according to broadly established guidelines. This position receives direction from the Senior Research Manager and Principal Investigator with regards to their specific required activities.Supervision Given
The Research Coordinator may be required to formally train and orient staff and students. They may also oversee the work of trainees and research assistants on associated projects.Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a university degree in a relevant discipline or technical program and a minimum four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require a graduate degree.– Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own– Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusionPreferred QualificationsGraduate degree in a related discipline is preferred but project management, proficiency and experience in grant writing are most important.Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear and time sensitive communications with a wide range of stakeholders and team members.Proficient computer skills including the ability to use various applications to identify grant opportunities, submit grants and perform detailed literature reviews.Demonstrated multi-tasking skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Proficiency in MS Office Suite.Experience in creating slide presentations and infographics considered an asset.Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage and work with diverse stakeholders including patient partners, healthcare providers, and granting agencies.Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.Experience working with Indigenous peoples, communities, and Indigenous-focused health organizations considered an asset.Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, including community members and marginalized populations.
