The Department of Physiology & Pathophysiology, Division of Cardiovascular Sciences and Disease in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing by July 1, 2025, or on a date mutually agreed upon. The department is seeking an individual with evidence of research capability in women’s heart health, cardiac cell biology and who has received training in physiology and is capable of educating undergraduate, graduate and medical students through teaching and mentorship. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the University of Manitoba Faculty Association collective agreement.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a member of the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, based at the St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre. The new recruit will be expected to develop a funded research program related to women’s heart health that will preferably complement or extend our strengths in this area of cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology, as well as associated disorders and disease. This program should allow for broad collaborations with colleagues from both fundamental science and clinical departments. The opportunity to do original and innovative research is a significant component of this position with at least 75% protected time for research. Awareness of the unique features of women’s heart health, innate immunity, transgenic mouse models, bioinformatics and RNA seq and cardiac cell biology is preferred. Laboratory and office space will be located on the St. Boniface campus. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching in the area of cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology at the undergraduate and graduate levels and service on department or faculty committees as assigned.

Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned doctorate or equivalent degree in physiology. A successful period of postdoctoral training is required. This position will have a significant research component and evidence of a productive publication history in high quality, peer-reviewed journals and ability to have secured competitive, extramural research funding are expected. Demonstrated evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative team environment, excellent communication skills, and teaching experience would be desirable attributes.

Additional Information
The successful applicant will have access to all Faculty research platform resources including Central Animal Care and will have access to expertise in transgenic mouse models, adenovirus vector production, molecular and live-cell imaging, genomics, proteomics, lipidomics, flow cytometry, and mass spectroscopy. The Department Office will provide administrative support for undergraduate and graduate teaching/training.
